Gendered division of labour in the family & waged. Introduction: women as well as men have always worked. We will investigate: the historical transformation of work & ideas about work as well as the impact these have on individuals can be examined using a macro, social construction perspective. Wage inequality has been around since the biblical ages; and sadly, it still continues today e. g. there was little change in women"s equality between the turn of the 20th century and the. Economy: the organization of resources to produce what we need to survive; so production, distribution, exchange, sale, and consumption of goods and services. Families/households & economy historically: families & work in early subsistence economy. 2: family group is unit of production (family based economy); all members contribute. A society, despite very young children, where everyone contributes in order to survive society. Women were responsible for 2/3rds of the food supply. Women were responsible for providing 44% of the food pre-1970s.
