In his book from street fights to empire, nace mentions: One such seed was a tendency towards exclusion and hierarchy and organizing principles. (page 19) On this page, nace is telling us about how the guilds operated as organizations, despite not being unified corporations and were specifically set up to represent a group of people of specific crafts. I picked this quote because it addresses an important aspect of guilds that still stands true in today"s corporate environment. Nace explains that these guilds had the tendency to exclude" or work towards their own interests first before others", and also organize their members in the order of hierarchy, much like how it is today. I agree with how nace implies that hierarchy and exclusion in medieval carried on to current times because much of that concept is still present in today"s corporations.
