Development a form of intervention in the global south. Why does development occur in some areas but not others. What are the causes of development and underdevelopment. A set of propositions which summarize, organize, and explain/predict facts, conditions, or events. These two theories differ in terms of explaining why development did not happen in some regions across the third world. Looks at the historical processes of western societies and based on those experiences it identifies pre conditions for development, things all societies should have if they want to become developed. They think the problem is lack of development the causes of lack of development is traditions of the society and within the cultures (attitudes behaviours and values) within the society.
