Ignores gains medicine has made in treating disease. Downplays psychological and spiritual dimensions of health. Needs to be used in combination with biomedical and lifestyle perspectives. Under-theorized with respect to systemic nature of oppression and its impact on health. Health= product of biological factors interacting with social, economic, political, cultural and ecological factors.
