The author in the article is asking whether the governmental response for hurricane. Katrina had to do more with race or with class. 63% of blacks thought it had to do with poor and 21% of whites said no and in terms of race 60% of blacks though it had to do with race but low percent of whites thought otherwise. Hurricane katrina: disproportionate impact on poor african americans. Individuals from all racial and socioeconomic groups impacted by katrina. 67% of new orleans residents who were african american and poor.
