In social work, communities are seen as a group of people who share geographic space, identity (people with disabilities), or interests. Communities must also be conscious of their community (if they don"t think of themselves as a community, they"re just a group of people that lack a sense of community) Csw community social work practice is the collections of knowledge, social work values, and skills used for intervening with and within social groups, organizations and communities to produce social change outcomes. Underlying community work is the belief that people acting together have the capacity to improve their own circumstances. Those involved have firsthand knowledge of their own situation and what is needed to change thing for the better. This belief reflects the fundamental values of the social work profession itself. Locality development: focuses on issues relevant to a particular neighbourhood or geographic space.
