What you learn today: threats to internal validity, research design, research question, interviewing, group time. The research design serves as a plan for implementing your research. You are concerned about how police in your neighborhood are targeting racialized youth and want to find out more about this in order to stop this. Research design 2: research problem, research objective, research question, research instruments (methods and measurement, sample/sample size/sampling methods, recruitment strategy, research logistics/timeline. Cross sectional study: what is going on, researchers seek a snapshot of what is going on at a specific point in time, descriptive study, exploratory study, evaluative study. Is the relationship between variable x and y in entity a the same or different at time 1 and time. Is group a different from group b? (can this be qualitative research?) Note in this design we cannot say x caused y.
