One study said 80% of white people feel ok when confronted by cops, only 48% of african-americans and 63% of hispanics felt that way. Experts say public knowledge of police procedures (the fact that they have policies) increases legitimacy. Having community meetings and giving citizens the opportunity to express concerns. In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. Respectful policing, end policies and practices which turn cops into revenue generators, having agencies reflect community demographics. The police explain to people what they do and how they handle certain critical situations. Collaborate with community members to develop policies.
