Document Summary
Jails are a correctional hybrid: they serve as many different operations. All combined into one facility: parts of the correctional hybrid. Less than half of all people in jails today have actually been convicted on any crimes. About 52-53% of all people in jails today are awaiting trial, which means they have only been accused of wrongdoing, but nothing has actually been proven. This is where criminals of minor (incarceration worthy) crimes are sent: people who are sentenced to jail are only sentenced to up to one year. Sometimes, though, it can actually be longer than a year: criminals hear usually commit misdemeanors. Sometimes people seek refuge in the jails because of the conditions outside in the elements, or just in life in general. Jails are built so that less people can supervise more people at one time: built in pods. It helps to keep people from doing bad things .
