Maintain order and safety of inmates and other prison employees/ visitors. Officers in living areas have the most opportunity to change inmates lives because they are in contact with them most of the time. Called attention to the structure of work settings: not only prisons but all work settings. Needs compliance: this is the act of obeying requests or orders given by another person.
