Edmond locard: his greatest contribution - idea that important evidence could be very small: his idea made investigators begin to look at crime scenes differently, trace evidence and transfer evidence. August vollmer: the father of modern american policing : professionalization of police, he formed the first crime lab that was under the direct control of the police department system. This lab included classification systems, fingerprinting, handwriting analysis, and improved the polygraph. Paul kirk: an american biochemist; invented the modern day crime lab.
