Can be brief but emotionally charged situations or can be the culmination of a long-standing hatred. Male on male is the most common situation, men overreacting to perceived slights . Not always about the last chicken wing, but threats to your honor. Also, called honor violence, reputation of being respected can be extremely important to people. The poorer you are, the more your level of respect and honor means to you because you don"t have a lot of other things. Encroachment on something that one or both individuals view as their own. This used to be an upper-class type of homicide historically. Often arise in social situations such as parties. Personality types and psychological correlates to people who are more sensitive to honor threats. Honor is a big deal in gang culture. Public location: there are other people present.
