Wellness is a concept that has often been used interchangeably with health. Halbert dunn: defined wellness as a process involving a zest for living . Don ardell: described wellness as a self-designed style of living that allows you to live life to the fullest . Wellness is a dynamic process that allows individuals to function at an optimal level and adapt to a wide variety of environmental situations. Wellness behaviors include: physical activity, appropriate nutrition, maintaining appropriate body weight, stress management, wise use of all drugs, and protection from disease and injury. Simply stated, health is a status, while wellness is a process. Health is the end result of personal behaviors combined with an individual"s genetics and environmental surroundings, and also the appropriate utilization of available health care. Wellness, on the other hand, is the process of choosing health-enhancing behaviors.
