Micro-level studies: how should anomie be measured, difference between aspirations and expectations, some empirical support (but less than other theories like control or learning) Institutional anomie theory: recent extension of anomie theory focused on anomie at the country-level, two arguments; Through devaluation: noneconomic goals are devalued compared to economic goals. Through accommodation: all other institutions must accommodate economic needs.
