KINES 300 Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Sagittal Plane, Transverse Plane, Acetabulum
Document Summary
Ascending stairs: requires more mobility than walking, descending stairs. Tying shoe with foot on floor: bending down to tie shoe (requires more hip mobility) Tying shoe with foot on opposite thigh: Femoral head is a convex mover in the concave acetabulum. Close packed position: max extension with max ir. Loose packed position: 30 of flexion with 30 abd and slight er. Position for mobilization joint is relaxed so you can move things. Dislocation: rare overall but after thr posterior/inferior dislocations may occur because posterior capsule is damaged in surgery. The hip has a deep socket with significant joint surface congruency. Tight, strong ligaments and capsule contribute to stability: Paraplegics posture- patients are taught to stand in close packed position at the hips so they are essentially hanging on the y ligament. It doesn"t take a lot of effort for them to stand this way (not a lot of effort of muscles required) In a healthy person, not a good posture.
