This module will cover the human fossil record from approximately 2. 5 million years ago to 10,000 years ago. We focus on the genus homo and the long-term trends in hominin adaptations documented in the fossil record, including morphological, technological, and social changes. This module"s lear(cid:374)i(cid:374)g out(cid:272)o(cid:373)es i(cid:374)(cid:272)lude: associate brain expansion with temporal events in human evolution, describe the importance of meat eating, cooperation and sharing in early hominin evolution. Illustrate how modern genetics contributes to our understanding of modern human emergence. In this lecture, we consider another fossil species associated with genus homo: homo erectus. First time we see hominids leaving the continent of africa: migrates outside of africa. Controlled use of fire: making of hearths. Engaging in long distance endurance running as a means for capturing prey: modern humanlike limb proportions. Fossils of homo erectus and homo erectus-like hominins.
