Document Summary

Global temperatures are definitely rising but cause is debatable: human use of fossil fuels does play a large part, may be at least partially natural. The carbon cycle has the entire earth as its system. Carbon connects all living organisms with each other and their non-living environment. Carbon cycle on land: plants take in carbon dioxide for energy during photosynthesis and then release it during respiration, carbon is stored in the soil after respiration. Carbon cycle in the ocean ocean stores and mixes carbon. Burning fossil fuels causes carbon dioxide to be released into the atmosphere. Deforestation also adds carbon dioxide because the trees are burned. Carbon can be continuously cycled but energy cannot. Ocean removes about 24 percent of the carbon from the atmosphere and land removes about 30 percent. China is distributing the most carbon dioxide with america coming in second. Fluctuation in carbon dioxide levels can be seen between seasons but overall the average is increasing.
