Also known as multiplexer
A combinational logic circuit
Will switch one of several input lines
It will be led to a single common output line by application of a control logic
Known as a generic term
Describes operation of sending one or more signals over a common transmission
line
Done at different times
Operates like a very fast acting multiple position rotary switches connecting or controlling
multiple input lines
Called “channels”
Can either be digital circuits or analogue
Most basic type of multiplexer device is a one-way rotary switch
