2. TTS Injectisome Assembly!
-SRP
-Co-translational protein secretion!
-Membrane proteins are highly hydrophobic = hard to fold once it’s completely made!
-Secretion is coupled by translation!
•Co-translation secretion!
Sec B!
-post translational protein folding!
-Put into Sec YEG into periplasm or outer membrane!
-When the bacteria sense the presence of the host cell, then it synthesizes the TTSS
injectisome system!
-Not always needed to have your “gun” out!
-Docking area at the top that has a protein that allows it to insert into the cell = then
the channel is completed!
-Dicult decision to decide how long the assembly should be made:!
-Too long is fragile!
-Too short = barely touch the surface!
-Bacteria has do decide the length. Length of needle is controlled!
The needle length varies and is dictated by the molecular ruler!
-the length of the protein determines the length of the needle!
-Call this protein “molecular ruler”!
-Decides that ‘this is the length of your needle, don’t grow longer and don’t grow
shorter”!
-Molecule is used as a guide!

Document Summary

Mic 360 class 22 notes: tts injectisome assembly. Membrane proteins are highly hydrophobic = hard to fold once it"s completely made. Secretion is coupled by translation: co-translation secretion. Put into sec yeg into periplasm or outer membrane. When the bacteria sense the presence of the host cell, then it synthesizes the ttss injectisome system. Not always needed to have your gun out. Docking area at the top that has a protein that allows it to insert into the cell = then the channel is completed. Di cult decision to decide how long the assembly should be made: Too short = barely touch the surface. The needle length varies and is dictated by the molecular ruler. The length of the protein determines the length of the needle. Decides that this is the length of your needle, don"t grow longer and don"t grow shorter .
