PSY 101 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Good Guys, Bad Guys
Document Summary
Psy101 - lecture 1 - introduction and piaget"s stages of cognitive development. Can understand and apply logical perspectives to interpret experiences, but thinking and focus is limited to what they can experience. No self reflection of self consciousness like in teens. Children in this stage are good at role taking and distinguishing perspectives. (they can usually tell when another"s feelings may have been hurt), but are still working on relating perspectives. Example: if they"re in a fight with a friend, the other person is always wrong, they can"t look at the situation from the other person"s perspective and speculate why they think or act the way that they do. It is easy for children in the concrete operational thinking stage to make friends. They are spontaneous (no planning needed, they don"t need to have the same interests as their friends) Have simple roles (good guys, bad guys)
