Document Summary

Dynamics branch of physics which involves the motion of an object and the relationship with that motion and other concepts related to physics. ***cause of motion is not important in kinematics. 3 things used in studying motion: displacement, velocity, acceleration. *for now we will measure in 1 dimensional so it will usually use x and y axis. ****note that x and y can be replaced with anything. Vector quantity: need both magnitude and direction to describe it. 2. shown by boldfaced print and an arrow over letter: scalar quantities described only by magnitude. Similar to distance, but not the same thing. Negative and positive quantities show which direction the motion is going. Positive displacement means it was travelling in the positive direction. Negative displacement indicates it was traveling in the negative direction. *think of displacement as the start and end point. Not concerned with what happened between start and finish. Some more examples of vector quantities are velocity and acceleration.
