Being qualified as a leader; you have experience in making difficult decisions, to be technically competent, in the way you communicate by giving information/feedback and how you listen. Workers expect communication from the supervisor; first is information, second is feedback on their performance, and third is they expect you to listen. Motivation is; the needs, desires, fear and aspirations --- the why in human behavior. There are five different character types of work; expert, helper, defender, innovator and self- developer. The theories that get people to perform a job are; motivation through fear theory; uses coercion, threats, and punishment. Carrot and stick theory; combines fear with incentive. Human relations theory is if people are treated as people, they will get the job done. Maslow"s hierarchy of needs theory; people behave in ways that will satisfy their needs and wants.
