Asexual preproduction: a colony of soil amoebas, pros and cons. The offspring are already adapted for their environment. There is no need to find a mate, which takes extra energy. If there is a flaw they are all the same they die. Sexual reproduction: western ground snake, pros and cons. The offspring"s dn is different is prepared for any changes. Any disease that affects some of them will not affect all of them. Takes energy to find mate: example: pocket mice. What might happen if the island floods and the white have to flee to higher ground where the black are. They would get eaten because they are white and don"t blend in to the environment. Found a mutation from a change in fur from light to dark. Irish lumper potato: easiest thing to grow, all genetically identical, potato famine. Only had one type and it got a disease. Survival of the fittest: offspring matter , biological fitness.
