Eyes on the news reports a famous newspaper study of the 1990s conducted by dr. Used eyetrack technology to see which parts of the newspaper readers looked at most. Artwork, photos and headlines were the top three items readers focused on scanning reader- Scanner will visually browse the page, looking for display type, images, graphics and quick reads. Goal is to pull scanning readers into the story by offering engaging layers organize useful info- Organize useful information, use visual signals to draw the eye, package information for quick access, and create visual texture by using different weights of type, colors, shapes and sizes of elements. Your job is to help the reader navigate a page. Reader friendly is not always editor friendly. layering- Several headlines + blurbs at the top of the page provide quick reads that refer readers to longer stories inside the paper.
