Geographic community for the community piece we are writing. Rely on a geographic community to write about. Provide readers with information they cannot get elsewhere. Personality profiles: a story o(cid:374) a perso(cid:374)"s life that focuses o(cid:374) a certai(cid:374) aspect of that perso(cid:374)"s life. Needs to be a compelling reason to write about the individual. Ex: jimmy smith and his love for music. Can be considered more newsworthy depending on the person and topic (the more prominent the person or more controversial the subject, the more newsworthy. ) General features: stories that are on lighter topics and usually have a decreased amount of newsworthiness. Arts and entertainment: stories about movies, art, and music. Stories about arts and entertainment can also move from features to news depending on the topic. Important to narrow your focus and make your story interesting. Lack of focus leads to lack of depth. Lack of focus, will keep you from zeroing in on the sources you need.
