sweat fluid replacement:
Profuse sweating is not likely to create an electrolyte deficiency.
A normal diet will replace most lost electrolytes.
Bicarbonate, Calcium, Chloride, Hydrogen Phosphate, Magnesium, Potassium, Sodium
Rehydration is essential.
Water is considered the best method of rehydration.
With exercise of more than 1 hour, sports drinks may be beneficial.
Smart Habit – Check your urine color frequently
sun overexposure:
Sun overexposure is the main cause of skin cancer.
Avoid exposure to Ultraviolent (UVA & UVB) Radiation.
1 in 5 Americans will have skin cancer, making it the most common cancer.
Prevention tips:
Avoid prolonged exposure
Plan activities during morning and evening
10:00am – 4:00pm is most intense
Wear sunscreen (American Academy of Dermatology)
SPF 30 recommended daily
SPF 50 for prolonged outdoor time
Wear protective clothing
Avoid regular tanning
Use screenings and prevention techniques
Perform self-exams
