Equity: rules should not be biased in one"s favors (aka equal. Equality- as an outcome: results similar, or at least comparable to the inputs. In usa this does not mean we are all the same. Individualism: allowed for states to do their own thing and be reflective of the people who live in that state. Unity: as americans, we may fight one another over important and stupid things alike. We"ll forget our differences and mess with you. Cultures are different from state to state, city to city, town to town, and neighborhood to neighborhood. Initiatives (direct and indirect) grass roots, something we wrote ourselves. Sign of low public confidence in government. Recall: 15 to 20 states closer to 15 allows you to recall at the local level (governors) you can pull them back before they are due to leave. Every state allows the legislature to place a measure on the ballot.
