Homicide is the leading cause of death for young african amercians ages 15-34. The federal response to the crack epidemic included the expansion of a massive imprisonment policy. In 2007, 26 state legislatures undertook a variety of measures to soften or study sentencing laws. There have been splits among voters along racial, geographic, age, income and educational divides. The american electorate is starting to shift in that the us is no longer going to be a majority white country. No single racial group will be a majority but multiracial. Nature and shape of the american electorate is in a state of fluctuation. Larger than usual split among college vs. non-college voters. The youth supported clinton less than 100k income were split. While suburban voters typically favored republicans, the inner suburbs are progressively favoring democrats today. Exurbs or counties on the fringe of metropolitan areas tend to more republican. Although overall, this trend is less prevalent the further south one ventures.
