Cultural studies: rather than just look at high art (classical film, high fashion, etc. ), look at ordinary people in addition to high art. Until the lower class is looked at, the only perspective comes from a rich one. Only through a complete look at all perspectives can a culture be fully explored. Identifies 5 different pieces of every aspect of culture which all relate to one another: representation, identity, production, consumption, regulation, cultural sudies, multiculturalism, and media culture by douglas keller. Considered postmodern, believes we are past the point of invention, instead society will reinvent. Follows tradition of frankfort school, which studies marxist theory. Kellner states that we live in a media and consumer society. Discusses media forms of pedagogy (how to think, feel, believe, fear, desire, etc. ) Critical media literacy= how to cope with a seductive cultural environment. Do not accept everything that the media states as a fact.
