Looking at psych methods; how psych produces knowledge. Psych instruments were first made in germany, and were first borrowed by physiology. They weren"t made in us until 1890s; before then us psych grad students had to go to. The word instrument ; why do we call psych tools instruments? deliberate use; associated w/ something that"s standardized, that can quantify/measure data, something that comes up with a score than can be recorded. ; every time a new instrument is developed, that shapes where the field goes. When wundt"s work was translated to english, these parts weren"t translated, so it couldn"t have an impact on how psych developed; so, in us, psych remained a very experimental science. In many experiments, subjects are male, but results are generalized to females. In many experiments, subjects are white, and results are generalized to people of all races.
