Bergmann"s rule states that larger animals of a population are found in colder climates. There was, but it was lost during the proceeding ice age and archeological evidence is hidden. Homosapiens still in africa away from fertile lands (migration occurred somewhere between ~100kyr ago) Homosapiens were not smart enough (~10% smaller brains) Some paleontologists and evolutionary biologists have even suggested humanoid may be a convergent outcome (prof. simon conway morris) We define the conditions under which humans survive as normal . There are many ways of life on earth which to us seem extreme . Extremophile- something that can thrive in extreme conditions, not just survive. Usually not called an extremophile because tardigrades can survive in extreme conditions but thrive because they don"t reproduce. In hibernation mode (tun state) they are nearly indestructible. Dehydrated from 85% to 3% water content for decades.
