Deals with that which is innately regarded as right or wrong- system of principles and judgments shared by cultural, religious, and philosophical concepts and beliefs, by which humans subjectively determine what is right and wrong- guides our behavior. Emotion: we feel good or bad based on our actions- feeling pride and empathy vs. feeling guilt. Behavioral: feeling good about doing something increases our behavior of that manner. Cognitive: thought processes we use to make decisions about right and wrong guides moral development- moral behavior is guided by moral reasoning. The starting point for finding answers: studying moral development in children- cognitive+behavioral development. Moral development consists of changes in the child"s ability to distinguish right from wrong and to act on this distinction. Social learning: morality is learned through modeling (adults and other children model behavior for kids), reinforcement, and punishment.
