NSC 4312 Lecture Notes - Lecture 12: Chronic Condition, Asthma
Document Summary
Primary care and research: transtheroetical model, developed to better understand the change process, grew out of work with problem behaviors like smoking and drinking, motivation enhancement/interview as an intervention. Gets used in a lot of settings: allows us to develop certain interventions depending on what stage they are. Primary care is an excellent filed to apply this model for prevention: this process is not purely linear and people can bounce back so theory tells us to pay attention to where they are. To help present information and go against the biases and attitudes they may have: stages of change- not a one-way process. Action: putting those changes into play, obvious actions within the last six months, may be ongoing for a time as health goals are attained, can last for a long time. It takes a while and not completely automatic.
