Difficult to modify distorted view of self, especially in cultures that highly value thinness. Bulimia: primary symptoms, binge eating (very large amount of food/junk in a few hours) followed by purging in secret along with shame. Reports loss of control or awareness: compensatory behaviors or purging. Importance of body image in view of the self.
