Document Summary
Somatic and dissociative disorders: dissociative disorders, dissociative amnesia- like a state. They kind of float or hover above themselves: general dissociative amnesia, everything, localized dissociative amnesia, more specific details. Distinguishing other causes of memory loss from dissociation: dementia, for a diagnosis for dissociative amnesia they can not have this. Neuroimaging maybe needed to rule this out: substance abuse, for a diagnosis for dissociative amnesia they can not have this, depersonalization/derealization, depersonalization. Dsm-5 criteria: the experience of distortion of the perception of reality, unusual sensory sensations. Like limbs or sounds: feelings of detachment or disconnection. Can co-occur with the below, but can occur by itself: derealization, more of a sensory experience, so the world feels strange, peculiar, or dream-like. Can co-occur with the above disorder, but can occur by itself: dsm-5 criteria for both. They have a tendency to inhibit emotional experiences: maybe even have comorbid conditions of mood disorders or personality disorders, this makes etiology difficult.
