Expiration (breathing out) caused by relaxation of diaphragm. Arterial blood gas (abg: measures pressure / levels of gasses and chemicals in blood. Wheezing : high pitched, whistling of the lower airway caused by bronchoconstriction. Crackles: rhonchi : lower pitched, associated with pneumonia, rales : higher pitched, associated with chf. Pleural rub : creaking on inspiration and expiration, caused by lack of lubrication. Stridor : upper airway whistling caused by airway constriction. Common cold: viral infection, antibiotics will not cure, more than 200 different possible viruses, rhinitis, congestion, sneezing, coughing, supportive care, hydration, symptom relief. Sinusitis : inflammation of mucous membrane lining of the sinuses: obstruction vs infection, facial pressure, loss of smell, congestion, treatment : steroids, nasal rinse, antibiotics. Inflammation of the tonsils (part of the lymphatic system)
