Description
 Cardiac cycle –   mechanical events follow electrical events!   • Atrial contraction,  • isovolumetric contraction • ventricular ejection • isovolumetric relaxation • ventricular filling ECG tracings: P thru T waves, heart sounds: S1 S2 • P wave: atrial depolarization • QRS complex: Ventricular depolarization • T wave: ventricular repolarization • ST segement = plateau of Action potential, all ventricles depolarized • Sounds: S1 – systolic sound, contraction of vent, longer/lower; S2 – diastolic sound,  contraction of semilunar valves, sharp/short  Cardiac Output = HR x (EDV – ESV) or stroke volume o Catecholamines = + inducing of contractility • Bradycardia – abnormally slow (hypertrophy, increased stroke volume) •
