Only four bodies in the solar system have confirmed volcanic activity. There"s possible activity on mars, venus and europa, but there"s no observations of eruptions. The galilean moons are the four largest moons of jupiter. Discovered by galileo and were the first group of objects found to rotating around another planet. Measure of a material"s resistance to flow. Gases expand near the surface and provide the force to extrude lava. Violence of an eruption is related to how easily gases escape magma. Viscous magma has a more violent eruption. Thin and fluid so it has long flo. Lava tubes are conduits for basaltic lava (like tunnels?) One to five percent of magma by weight. Ash and dust - fine and glassy. Volcanoes are the conduits for rising magma as it comes to the surface. Lava flow viscosity is directly linked to magma composition, felsic is higher viscosity mafic is lower.
