Regression: during cold climates water accumulates as snow and turns into ice lowering the sea level. Transgression: when they melt the sea level goes back. Glaciers are a part of the hydrologic cycle and the rock cycle. Glacier: a thick mass of ice that forms over land from the compaction and recrystallization of snow and shows evidence of past or present flow. Permanent ice on a continent formed when snowfall and ice accumulate net of 1000 years. Time in earth history when ice sheets covered a huge portion of the land on earth, oceans were frozen a lot. Suggested the possibility of the ice age. Put stakes around glaciers and saw that they moved from the center the most. Rock flour: pulverized material of the breaking of original rocks as the glacier kills them. Rocks get polished by glaciers due to the rock flour. Boulder clay that"s been moved around by glaciers. Agassiz"s statue fell straight in the ground.
