John Goff “syringe rapist
Shenna Grimm—now 23—accused her stepfather, John Goff, of impregnating her with a
syringe when she was 16. Goffs wife could no longer conceive, thus he threatened to kill
her if the daughter, Shenna, would not comply with the impregnation. Grimm’s son was
born in 1999, yet she only raised him one year before giving him up for adoption. Goff
acknowledges that the child is his son as well. In 2002, Goff was convicted of rape,
sexual battery, and child endangerment and charged with 20 years in prison. In June of
2006, however, an appeals court overturned the conviction claiming that a detective
testimony should not have allowed statements by Goffs wife.
Shenna Grimm had also accused a different man of molesting her, yet he was not
convicted of rape because at the time the rape law required intercourse. John Goff and his
wife, Narda, campaigned for a tougher state rape law. It seems ironic to me that they
would campaign for it, yet suffer its consequences when they themselves had committed
rape against their own child. There doesn’t seem to be any justice for Shenna, sue to the
fact that her stepfather’s sentence was appealed. Shenna, too, admits to suicide attempts
as well as depression.
1. Why did they not allow statements to be made by Goffs wife, Narda?
2. Where is Goff now? Is he going to serve less time in jail, or completely by free of
all charges?
