October 9, 2013 th Tensho embassy is the group of Japanese explorers that traveled to Europe in the 16  century Ming dynasty came about because of the fall of the Mongols Moved capital to Beijing, previously Khan­balik  The forbidden city was built using Feng shui There are forces in nature that are in interaction with us and our lives that we can’t see Qi­ “Chi” is at play as a force in the universe Inner harmony in nature Structures that were previously built were rebuilt, redesigned and strengthened Metonymy is the idea that part of a thing is used to represent and symbolize the whole thing By only allowing the emperor and his concubines live in the Forbidden City, the throne and the  Forbidden City itself became a metonymic symbol of China Cowtowing to throne = Cowtowing to emperor Forbidden City was open only to the emperor, eunuchs and scholar­bureaucrats Temples balanced themselves out Temple of Heaven vs. Temple of Earth Temple of heaven = blue roof
