November 13, 2013 A team of four regents ruled on behalf of the boy emperor Kangxi The regents were various respected Manchu princes and generals The four regents were rivals and they could not unite to lead successfully Kangxi took control of his rule in his early teens Ruled contemporaneously with Louis XIV of Britain and Peter the Great of Russia Kangxi ruled from 1661­1722 When he died his fourth son gained the throne Controversy over whether the Yongzheng emperor killed his older brothers to gain the throne Yongzheng emperor ruled from 1722­1735 When he died his son Qianlong rose to the throne Ruled China for a very long period of time, but not quite as long as Kangxi Wanted Kangxi to maintain the title of having the longest rule Abdicated the throne and passed it down so that he wouldn’t rule for longer than his grandfather Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong are the three great emperors of the
