World History Notes – Industrialization The Global Origins of Industrialization
Highlighting Europe’s technological advancements
Europeans were not the only ones who played a role in industrialization. Technological revolution.
Transformation in the way work was done, it was done more in factory type settings, time was
organized by the seasons and agricultural seasons, now it was by time, shifts, clock in and clock
out. People migrated to the urban centers to find work.
Machines, mass products by unskilled workers, many doing their own little part and together they
make a finished project. They had new machines and tools. Vast resources allowed for cheap
imports from their colonies, and then they could also sell it back to the colonies.
Result of the industrial revolution rapidity of communication around the globe.
Glorious Revolution: Parliament had installed William and Mary to the monarchy but they did
not have absolute power.
Constructed Railroads that linked the country internally for the first time, national trade much more
quickly than other European powers
Enclosure Movement: Enclosure of open fields, movement allowed for more order of these
common fields. It was good for the overall economy but brutal for the peasants and the poor
because the community fields were taken away, they couldn’t support themselves. is the process

first developed at the coal mine so they could ship the coal around.
Industrial Revolution And Social Upheaval
The main complaint of factory workers was the place and discipline, and machine time. Peoples
comfort and rank was based on what their parents did, and when they had excess they thought
