Just before the class begun, google announce the acquisition of nest, a company best known for developing a very sophisticated thermostat. I think that google acquired nest because of their sophisticated thermostat in order to know the exact temperature of the server farms. Knowing this temperature will allow them to run these servers at full capacity without them having a meltdown and overheating. The thermostat can also allow them to efficiently run air conditioning at certain times in order to conserve power and be even greener than they already are. The best part about nest is that it does all the work for you. This will help google become even more efficient in that there will not be as many. Checkups on their servers as there are now. I think ultimately google will develop a thermostat from nest that is specifically designed for the needs of their server farms.
