Nursing care during labor and birth at risk. Weeks old = chance of survival = chances of being disabled. Low socioeconomic status, too old/young, minority, hx. of preterm labor, stress, infections, etc. Etiology: kind of unknown, likely to believed it"s infection; put preterm labor pts on abx. Hx. of preterm labor, prom, bacterial vaginosis, intraamniotic infection. Preterm: lower-back pain, no radiation to front; rhythmic backache must be evaluated. Preterm: not feeling right = prime of life, malaise = something"s wrong; wary of flu symptoms. Febral fibronection (ffn): baby produces proteins, premature presence in vaginal secretions = risk of preterm birth. Will swab vagina for presence; if +, bad predictor of preterm labor but treat it anyway; but if definitely not in preterm labor. Estriol: saliva collection; + bad, - good (def not in preterm) Tell her when to come in and when not to, the good and the bad; encourage bedrest to decrease their stresslevel.
