Document Summary

Socrates explains how each regime can fall apart: how could the machine fail: breaks down because of mixing of souls, rule of the elite. 5 political regimes and the devolution of the soul. How could someone have virtuous parents, but end up with a child who is a parents. Eventually classes mix which leads to timocracy. If individuals fall in love with someone in a lower class and they live together and have kids it creates family interest and family factions which breaks up the unity of the society. The child would be of a mixed nature and a child who is a guardian who doesn"t belong there would be very dangerous - but the child won"t belong to any class. Eventually no one is qualified to be in charge. Slowly they lose the education of wisdom/music. Gold souled man falls for silver souled woman.
