Social science is about people and their interactions, relationships. Economics focuses on the market, supply and demand. Political science is about making decisions consciously, making policy, passing legislation. Real di erence between a market decision and politics is power. In a market economy people makes choices voluntarily. Politics is di erent because when the govt makes a decision, they can back it up. Politics - the state has a monopoly of authoritative violence. Ex: syria - assad, isis, many di erent sides, they are going to ght rather than reach an agreement. Civil rights movement, compromise govt tries to resolve problems without armed rebellion. Main goals are to: provide security from an abroad attack maintain public order from within any governmental decision can be forced on you, causes disputes, makes di cult conversation have to live with any decision the govt makes.
