Social and emotional messages of smiling: an ethological approach. Filmed people from both sides while they were bowling and scored strikes. People wouldn"t smile when they were facing the lane but instead when they turned around and there were people there to see those expressions. People only see your emotions and whether they tend to them when you are looking at them. If you see someone else looking and acting afraid it will lead you to feel at least a little bit more afraid. If someone looks at you with angry expression, you won"t respond by also feeling angry, but instead it might lead you to feel fear especially if they are angry at you. Neutral face posed by face model morphed into emotion face either happy or angry (20 second video) Happens in series of mathematically identical steps. Muscles that pull up corners of your mouth to make smile. When watching angry film, that muscle doesn"t become more active.
