Morality psychology has been largely neglected in the history of psychology it is relatively new! For the rest of the course, we are going to take up topics that will bring bits and pieces together more thought questions! Trait - big 6th trait = basically morality (honesty, doing the right thing) (behavior) We develop a whole self that tells us what we ought to be (discrepant or not from the actual self) Haidt - political ideology based on emotion. Social learning theory (read in the chapter) = rewards, punishments (behavior) Emphasis on how thinking/behavior is based on rewards/punishments. Freud - superego, moral rules, ego ideal (motive) Rogers - part of the organismic self (motive) I am a generous person, i am an honest person, etc.
