Ignatius was very active and was described as contemplative: rest and work are integrated for him, contemplative in action, contemplative. : cultivation of silence, to look deeply into something. Contemplative practice: not in opposition to activity, it is a way of action, two approaches to human understanding. Ignatius tries out things to see what works for him spiritually: dan siegel, martin laird, they both talk about silence, inner stillness, an awareness of moods for a transformation, siegel, what fires together wires together. The neurons that fire together as a result of a stimulus are more likely to be connected later on and used simultaneiously. Neuroplasticity: the brain is plastic, not fixed, constantly forming physically to experiences. Significance of this: use the brain to your advantage. Attention to certain things will change the structure of one"s brain: habits can change one"s brain as well, so contemplation is, brain and body are integrated not separate to create good habits.
